What is your job position in your
own home? I am a mother, a house keeper, a cook, assistance in the kitchen, a
teacher, a technician, laundry mat, a handy man, gift wrapper, an administrator
in a office and a personal shopper.
I don't need a man in my life. I have learned to do things on my own since I was a child. I learn to change a light bulb in the house.
I learn to put oil in my car for what my father taught me when I started driving. He said, you need to make sure there is oil and water in your engine. Make sure there is air in your tire.
I learn to be responsible at a very young age. I use to do every one's laundry and fold their clothes place their in our separate basket. I even charge them extra if my family members wanted me to put their clothes away in their rooms.
I became a business minded in our home I gave my family a penalty if they didn't put their clothes away leaving in the basket over night.
I remember my sister had owed me money. She didn't pay me back in time. I wanted to sell her clothes and bring it to the consignment store. This is the place where I would sell my used clothing that I didn't feel like wearing any more. Earn money off my used clothing and have other people wear it.
That is when I was young I wanted to be a entrepreneur. I wanted to travel around the world and sell clothes or be a personal shopper for other people. I wanted to get paid for my hard work.
When I was a teen I didn't know how to cook. We always warm microwave food and ate it. I only started learning how to cook homemade meals once I got married. I learn from Rachel Ray Cooking Channel. I also learn from cookbooks and watching video in the Internet.
I remember when I was visiting the Philippines and my mother in-law handed me the lazy sushi recipe. She told me since I love cooking to try preparing it at her home.
My mother in-law doesn't know how to cook. But she knows how to criticize you and hurt your feelings to the bottom that she doesn't appreciate how much effort you put into a meal.
I wanted to cry, but I kept my feeling to myself.
I went back to the States and decided to play with the lazy sushi and prove she is wrong about my cooking. For some reason I wanted to prove to her that one day my lazy sushi will taste better. After playing with the recipe and adding other ingredients to it.
After one year later we went to visit the Philippines. I had cooked the lazy sushi recipe to my mother in-law and my other in-law's to prove they are wrong. I also brought my own furikake topping with me.
She no longer complained. In her recipe there was an ingredient missing. I had changed that on my own to make the taste something you can say it became my own recipe.
Every time we have a family gathering and birthday potluck my in-law would request me to make the lazy sushi for them. It became a hit that I seldom ate it any more. They say, when you prepare your meals often you feel you have eaten it so many times.
That is what has happen to me. I don't mind making it for other people. I still enjoy making it. Hear people say that they like your cooking.
I don't serve it with Japanese seaweed. I prefer using Korean roasted seaweed. It seems to add more flavor to your food.
You can refer to my lazy sushi recipe in my blog.
The reason why I am assistance in the kitchen our cook only knows the typical Filipino dishes. Sometime my mother in-law is requesting food off their daily menu guideline. I would look up the recipe and guide it along with our cook.
In this house no one knows how to scan a document from your laptop or replace the ink cartridge. I do that too.
I remember this year I went to accompany my friend to visit one of her friend. She didn't know how to instruct her friend how to change the ink cartridge from the printer. I have so many experiences on that matter at work. I had showed her friend how to change the ink cartridge in the future since I don't live in her area.
She also wanted to scan some documents as she was doing it herself. The print out was too small. I found out later she was printing in a small size which needed to change the format of the size of the paper.
Her friend was so happy that she was able to learn two things from me.
Every Christmas my mother in-law would ask me to wrap up gifts that she would give away to her friends. I became an expect wrapping gifts when I was young I had worked in Montgomery Wards the department I was in charge of was gift wrapping just for seasonal work.
I love gift wrapping. My sister always ask me to do this too when I am visiting.
I am a personal shopper for my family and for the employees who I work with they ask me to look for inexpensive prices on items they want to buy online.
I have access for Shopee and Lazada. I have been shopping with them for so many years. I have a great rating. Every time I would purchase something it would always arrive before the actual expected date.
Just recently I had ordered something for an employee. It had arrived the next day. That is what you call express service. My employee are wondering why it only happens to me. When they use their account it takes longer for them to receive their order.
I think these people who come to our door step wonder who I am who always deliver my packages.
You won't believe they also deliver during the holidays and Sundays.
