Carmina asked Mom Violy what kind of food she would like to eat for her upcoming birthday. Mom Violy said she was craving for a restaurant that serves steak and lobster. Carmina gave Mom Violy a list of restaurants for her to decide with a link of the websites for her to see which one look something she would like to try. Upon entering the person asked if we had any reservations however, they do except walk as well was seated at the table of our choice.  The person had handed us the menu. Beverages Menu Bread and butter were served after we had placed our order. Our appetizer was the Mamou's Bacon Steak. Mom Violy decided to order her lobster tail with rice. Friends Who Come and Go

I was attending college right after high school. I met Lyn and Maria when I was working in the library. I remember Lyn and Maria just arrived from the Philippines.

Lyn and Maria didn't know when you are a girl you are not suppose to cling on each other in the States. People will mistake you as being a lesbian.

During the time I met them I wasn't use to someone clinging on to my hand or arm. I had to tell my new friends that it wasn't right to do in public. People would think you are in a relationship. I am a person who is direct to the point. I grew in California my whole life. I was Americanize with Filipino blood.

The good part Lyn and Maria didn't get offended when I had inform them. They we're actually grateful I told them.

Every day we saw each other and we had some classes together. We became close that they slept over my home the weekend.

Maria and Lyn

My parents didn't mind me having friends sleep over. They liked it better than me sleeping in someone else's home.

Lyn and Maria didn't know how to drive. I had picked them up at their home and take them back.

Lyn and Maria had their own set of boyfriends they became busy. I drifted and started hanging out with a new set of friends.

When you’re single you tend to drift away from your friends when they are in a relationship.

It was easy for me to find new friends people say I am so friendly, nice and smile often. If you see a person always smiling and joking around that is me. I am never serious. I hardly get mad at people only if you really did something bad to me.

I went back hanging out with my childhood best friend Christine. We had worked in the same department store. I hung out with her and our new friends working in the same store.

Christine and Carmina

We started going out and exploring and adding new friends to hang out.
All my friends had boyfriends and I had drifted away from them. I was use to it already bouncing back and forth meeting another set of friends

My parents decided to open a Subway Sandwich. I had quit my job as a sales person. I became a manager for my parents. I had worked during the morning and pick up vegetables from our supplier. I remember I use to haul boxes of lettuce to our shop. I use to carry that heavy soda syrup and place it on the soda machine when we had run out. I was everywhere.

I was also attending college and working full time. On Friday and Saturday night I would be going clubbing with Maria and her new friends she had met.

She had a new life with her husband. We seldom kept in touch. I didn't want to disturb her anymore.

I had drifted again and met new friends at the club at Celebraties during that time that was the in place to go dancing when you reached 21 years old.

Everyone who is a teen reach a part of life going clubbing and dancing it off.

I was never a drinker I was always the designated driver for my friends. We always hung up in Denny's Restaurant which was a 24 hour diner. I would come home late in the morning. I remember my mom would be waiting for me in the staircase asking me why I came home late.

During my time phones are not available. We only had pagers. I remember when I brought Maria home her older brother had locked the front door and having a chain block in order her to get in. I had to stick my hand in so she can enter inside.

We had enjoyed clubbing and meeting new friends. You tend to add more friends and move on again once your best friend finds a new mate. Maria had introduced me to her cousin Helen. I started hanging out with her. She lived one hour away where I live. I started visiting her over the weekend.

We took turns visiting each other with a guy and his cousin who she was dating that time.

Helen introduces me to do hiking. We started doing nature together.

As years past by after we had all gotten married we had reconnected with our husband and children.
Maria, Carmina and Helen

We had drifted apart when I had moved back to the Philippines.

Life of friends just come and goes you don't know who your real friends are. They tend to change and you end up meeting new set of friends.

Every time I visit California I still see Lyn and her family when I am in town for a one month visit.

No matter where your friends are you will surely know who you can trust and count on when you are need of having them apart of your life.
