Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. Bopis Recipe


Bopis is made of lungs of the pig and some also add the heart of the pig. This recipe that Manang V cooks at our home only has the pig's lungs and I will give you a technique she does to clean the lungs before cooking the bopis.

 I don't eat this kind of dish but there are some people in the house who do like I said. I am a picky eater and only eat certain food but no matter what we are all different. No matter if I don't eat the food I will be sharing you all the recipes being cooked by Mananag V.

Bopis Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 Kilos - Pig's lungs
  • 1 - Radish (peel and chopped small pieces)
  • 2 - Whole Garlic (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 - Onion Medium size (chopped)
  • 1 -  Cup Vinegar
  • 3 - Cups Water
  • Patis to taste
How to Clean the Pig's Lungs before Cooking:
  1. In a pot boil water add salt place the pig's lungs inside cook for one hour after it has been cooked strain the water and place it under cold water begin chopping the lungs the size of a ground meat small enough.
  2. Set aside
Cooking Instructions
Step 1:
  • In a pot pour small amount of cooking oil add garlic and onion saute it than add radish, vinegar and lungs.
  • Add water add season with patis once water has evaporated the bopis is already cooked.
  • Ready to serve in a serving plate.
