When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. They usually have a live band, but unfortunately, there was no entertainment the night we went. My family had spoken highly of Isla Grand and encouraged us to try the Filipino dishes we’ve been missing from back home. Lech...

Di' Mark's Pizza

After all the stress of buying food for my mom and running around the house, I realized I was hungry but had lost my appetite when it was time to eat.

I had been craving minestrone soup, so I searched for it on the Grab app. Luckily, I discovered that Di' Mark's Pizza served it there.

The minestrone wasn’t quite the same as the one I grew up with—just the noodles were different. Still, the taste transported me back to my childhood, reminding me of enjoying it with my family when I was young.

The soup came with two pieces of garlic bread, as shown in the picture, all for PHP 150.00 ($3.00). I decided to treat myself and splurged on a complete meal for the day.

My favorite has always been spinach and cheese ravioli with authentic tomato sauce. Thankfully, Di' Mark's Pizza had it on their menu for PHP 350.00 ($7.00). I left as a happy camper, my tummy full of delicious food—a well-deserved treat.

I couldn't resist ordering something new. I missed the microwavable pizza pockets I used to eat often during my teenage years.

I found something similar on the menu at Di' Mark's Pizza—their Pizzarollie Pepperoni for PHP 260.00 ($5.20).

A family member decided to order Chicken Cutlet with Alfredo Sauce for PHP 270.00 ($5.40).

A family member mentioned that the chicken cutlet was slightly overcooked, though the Alfredo pasta was rich in cheese and flavor. If the chicken had been cooked perfectly, it would have earned a higher rating from the family. Another family member, who enjoys meatball sandwiches, decided to try the Hero Meatball for PHP 270.00 ($5.40).

Family Member's Review:

The Hero Meatball tasted great, and we're looking forward to having it again in the future. The family really enjoyed the generous amount of cheese inside the sandwich.

Someday we plan to try something at http://dimarkspizza.com/ off their menu till than I will be able to add something to write all over again.
