Tired of the new rules, Carmina closed her Google Maps account — what pushed her over the edge?

It’s been months since Carmina last posted on her Google Maps. I started doing it just for fun, exploring new places to dine and travel, and sharing those spots with others. Back in 2017, I wasn’t even blogging yet. Over the years, I received numerous email updates about changes, but in September, the removal of followers on Google Maps felt particularly strange. There’s no point in complaining about it. I decided not to close my account, as it wasn’t an option, but I did delete all the photos I had contributed over the years. I have fond memories of seeing which photos were popular and had hoped to share them with you. It was surprising to see how many views my pictures had accumulated. While deleting them, I noticed that many restaurants and bakeries no longer exist, with some marked as unknown on the map. Most of my photos were from the pandemic period, a time when I could fully express myself and write about the food I enjoyed. Let's take a trip down memory lane with Carmina th...

You're English is Better than Others

You're English is Better than Others

Reason why I say this I have a lot of friends asking for a favor from me.

I had a friend who had told me I am good in English and wanted me to check their language on their resume to see if their grammar was correct.

My friend was saying your English is better than mine and I am applying for a job. I need a favor if you can check upon it to see how I can make changes.

The funny part my friend gave it in a jpeg (picture). I had typed it in from the beginning by checking how the format is supposed to look these days.

The resume I had was old school took me two hours to type and corrects everything. My friend kept asking me if it was done. I felt I had a deadline to meet.

I had emailed back the resume to my friend in Microsoft Word.

My friend Yann had applied a job at the call center working from home. Yann was telling me she is not good enough to speak English. I was telling her based on her sample of what she gave me she speak well enough for customers to understand.

Yann just need practice to speaks well enough and not have a slang while talking. Yann was telling sometimes she cannot understand why a different dialect is a caller when they explain on the phone.

You will come across people their dialect is deep and the way they talk is hard to hear.

I gave Yann a short cut on aberration common used when you're talking to someone to understand what letter they are letting you know.

There are times Yann feels frustrated. I keep telling her at least you have a job that pays well enough to work at home.

I have a best friend who I keep asking to look for a job we began listing what experience she has to narrow it out what job she can apply for my way to give a push.

Sometimes you don't realize you're English is Better than Others only when they begin talking to you.

For a person who grew up in California and English being her first language it is common to keep talking even though you live in the Philippines.

I may sound slang the way I talk but people say I talk too fast. I've heard other people talk fast when I am watching videos in Facebook doing their vlog. I don't think I am alone just the way we talk seem we're in a hurry.

No matter if I live in the Philippines my English is better from all my friends. I speak English at home. Even though I may have slight slang tone in my voice I am still Americanize.
