When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. On our first visit to Isla Grand, I was captivated by the décor, noticing many native items that gave the place a fancy yet authentic Filipino feel. They usually have a live band, but unfortunately, there was no entertainment the night we went. My family had spoken highly of Isla Grand and encouraged us to try the Filipino dishes we’ve been missing from back home. Lech...

Carmina's New Haircut

Carmina was able to cut her own hair after one year and half not getting a proper haircut. At first I was hesitant to cut my long hair. After watching so many videos seeing people cut their own hair. It gave me some courage to do it on my own.

I had a new pair of scissors, rubber bands to tie my hair and followed what I saw online.

The tips I saw was to iron you're hair out to make sure it is was straight. I had used a flat ironed and made sure it was straight enough. I had combed my hair. It was advised to rubber band your hair at the end.

I did that and yet yes we looked funny.

I had a measuring tape to make sure it was the same length.

Of course everyone at home was asking me if I was for real that I will cut my own hair. Actually I wasn't planning to do it. Yet I was getting frustrated seeing my ends not even and for me my hair grows longer from the back.

After I took a shower I saw my ends uneven and decided to cut it while it was still wet.

I had used my blow dryer to dry up my hair and use my flat ironed to make sure it was even out the same thing I've seen done at the hair parlor.

My hair cut might have done by a hair parlor but with practice I was able to succeed.

To others it may not be a big deal that does it often.

Mom Violy cuts her hair when she gets bored or when getting annoyed with her hair. Only problem her hair tends to curl in the end of her hair explains why she gets annoyed.

Carmina comes over to her home she will ask her to straighten her hair on the back. I feel I am a professional.

In reality Carmina is not.

This is a lesson to learn, and you feel if you have cut your hair not the way you want it. It is always grown back.
