When Mom Violy wanted seafood, one name kept popping up: Breakthrough Restaurant. Would it live up to the hype?

After a road trip and exploring the area, Mom Violy requested some seafood and was given a recommendation to dine at  Breakthrough Restaurant . When we entered the restaurant, we saw it was bustling with customers, and Mom Violy asked for a table by the window to enjoy the beach view . The server informed us that we needed to place our order at the counter and choose the seafood to be weighed, similar to the process at Dampa . Tita Edna was busy snapping photos, while Carmina was filming as Mom Violy placed her order. Breakthrough isn’t air-conditioned, but they provide electric fans at your table for comfort. Mom Violy wanted sinigang and was deciding which kind of fish to have with her soup. Mom Violy requested the crab and shrimp to be cooked in butter and garlic. Mom Violy also ordered adobong pusit (squid). Tita Edna placed her own order, which was kilawin na dilis . Carmina wanted fresh lumpia , but since it wasn’t available, she opted for pinakbet instead. Manang V's Beef Ribs Kaldereta Recipe


Manang V is sharing you her Kaldereta Recipe the way she cooks in our home. Being a cook she feeds a lot of people. 

Carmina has the opportunity to write down and ask Manang V what are her recipes each day a way we have a journal of what recipes each person has on their own.

Manang V said normally there is pineapple to the dish since we have nothing in stock it wasn't included in our dish today.

Manang V's Beef Ribs Kaldereta Recipe

Ingredients:

2 Kilo - Beef Ribs

2 - Small Packs Del Monte Tomato Sauce

2 - Tbsp. Vinegar

1 - Onion (chopped)

1 - Whole Garlic (minced)

1 - Potato (sliced in 1 inch)

1 - Carrot (sliced in 1 inch)

2 - Bell Pepper (sliced thinly)

1 - Can Green Peas

1 - Reno Liver Spread

Patis (Fish Sauce) to taste

1 - Can of Sliced Pineapple (strain juice)

Cooking Instructions:

  1. In a large pot you will add small amount of cooking oil when hot add garlic, onion sauté by adding the beef ribs, vinegar and water until meat is soft and tender.
  2. Add potato, carrot, bell pepper, peas until cook for thirty minutes 
  3. Add reno liver spread, patis and pineapple ready to serve with rice.

They say eating in a small plate makes you eat only a small portion of your food each day.
