Mom Violy's Birthday Lunch at Mamou, Gateway 2

Carmina asked Mom Violy what kind of food she would like to eat for her upcoming birthday. Mom Violy said she was craving for a restaurant that serves steak and lobster. Carmina gave Mom Violy a list of restaurants for her to decide with a link of the websites for her to see which one look something she would like to try. One week before Mom Violy's birthday she made her final choice where she would like to try  Mamou . Carmina had picked up Mom Violy at her home before heading to Gateway 2 located in Cubao, Quezon City. Mamou is located ground floor inside Gateway 2. Upon entering the person asked if we had any reservations however, they do except walk as well was seated at the table of our choice.  The person had handed us the menu. Beverages Menu Bread and butter were served after we had placed our order. Our appetizer was the Mamou's Bacon Steak. Mom Violy decided to order her lobster tail with rice. Carmina had asked her best friend if she would like to participate in the topic of Wellness in Carmina Lifestyle.

Becky said sure what do I need to do in order to participate.

Carmina came up with questions for Becky to answer.

  1. Introduction of Becky because you decided to push forward to fitness.
  2. Story explaining when you began exercising, types of fitness/sports (any sports you have played in the past) Example you said you’re a member at the gym.
  3. Example in the beginning I wasn't serious, so I explained it in one of my chapters.
  4. Realizing the Facts (if you have stopped doing exercise)
  5. Check list of Daily Routine Up to you what type of check list you want it to be
  6. Meals Eaten Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with photo to give them an idea. You can give recipe of it. If you wish too.
  7. In the beginning it will explain the emotions, feeling being stranded in your home reasons why you went toward exercise.
  8. Food you ate before you started eating before meals began to change. Gives viewers an idea. Let me know what you think. I did research to give an ideal where to put each topics.  It won't confuse the viewers. Give me your point of view.

When your life gets threatened an auto reaction from a human being is to save oneself, you are not to have a second thought nor wait, a person values life when it gets into a life and death situation and the person makes sure he or she survives for the sake of self-preservation, love ones, Job and happiness.

WHY? Good question simple answer, I have diabetes, I am hypertensive and a given Asthmatic.

It never went through my stubborn thick skull; it just went through the right valve and went pass through the left valve “You Only Live Once” and I never saw the doctors again My Life My Rules. Who would have imagined that the life I enjoyed is the same life that will stop me from doing what I wanted to do?

The year 2016 I turned 50 years old, the year my so-called happy life changed. A dark grey strip appeared from the vision of my left eye; it webbed across the entire eye vision a few days after.

The eye doctors were not giving me good news and, in my mind, I was in a panic. Finally, I was recommended to see an endocrinologist, had a blood chem test and was informed that my blood sugar is at 300 high, my blood pressure was hitting 170/100, my cholesterol was high, uric acid high, and on and off acid reflux spasm, and should start injecting insulin, what else could go wrong? I was diagnosed to have glaucoma in both eyes.

Looking through clear plastic-like vision became my normal, both eyes are now affected and both eyes are now blurred. At 55 years old, I am still blessed to make a permanent change in life, with the ongoing pandemic and Covid rising cases I chose to make the difference and uplift the morale of working women and housewives. To empower women with confidence, self-esteem and build the courage to look better.

It may sound easy, seems like you just need to diet and exercise, NO first you need to convince yourself and make a mental note then wait, that’s the hardest part cause anytime within the week you are bound to say, “next time nalang”. So why waste time deciding when I end up putting the plan for next time? I am sick that’s why I will continue to sustain myself with meds till kingdom come. If I do not start then I am to get worse say 5 to 6 years from now? Yes, you may say that, and yet still wanting to reach for goals. 

Finally, March 2020 came, and the pandemic scare began, no one was allowed to work onsite and work from home was introduced. Sad I am also a comorbid means a vulnerable human being that can be infected by the virus right away and be dead in a few weeks (wala pa vaccine that time). What happened next was to stay at home and watch the news. More bad news came, the company I was working for started to let go of their employees downsizing they said, ok me included. Unfortunately.

Stay at home again, but now I just realized I regained my weight back, oh no I thought I lost this a year ago, nope I gained it all back 165 pounds, I remembered it’s the Family Mart cookies the breakfast at Jollibee the soft drinks and junk food that I so enjoy eating. That time I discovered the amazing OKRA it really pulls down my blood sugar, thing is it was on and off it was only taken kung type ko. But since I do not have anything to do, I tried to check my blood sugar again (that was a neglect).


Oops! 280!! Oh no not again. I had to think fast I need to do something or else, things will really go wrong this time. I can’t go to the hospital the surge of covid 19 was really on the rise, you had to consult online and will be advised to have a blood chem. All that will not work no computer no job no money. I am stuck sick.
