Kathleen's Story with Kaia Fit
I've always enjoyed being fit. But when I gained so much weight during my pregnancies, I had to do something about it. I wanted to be able to play and have fun with my kids. I wanted to have energy for them. I found Kaia Fit August of 2014 and fell in love with the community. I became a fitness coach for Kaia Fit January 2016. Best job ever and I can say it saved my life. I was diagnosed withs stage 4 ovarian cancer May 2021. It made me strong and fight through the chemo treatments and surgery. My battle isn't over yet but healing and confidence I will get thru this.
I love Cardio exercises. I'm a runner, both trail and road. Kathleen ran countless Marathons and Ultra distances. Although I do have a rest day, I make sure I run or even run walk daily.
I enjoy a variety of foods. That's one of the reasons why she loves working out. I do it so she can eat all the things! I like to focus on whole foods, fresh, not so many processed foods. Simple eating is the way to go. It's much easier for your body to digest and burn whole foods.
Right now, since I'm recovering and taking cancer medication mainly for preventative care, I can only run/walk a few miles, no more than 5 or 6. I haveone more surgery coming up, so she has backed off a bit. In the past I would run as much as 7-10 miles per day. When training for a race, 20-25 miles depending on the distance.
I love being outside in Nature. I will always choose to do an activity outside. I love hitting the trails. The mountains, the hills, the rivers and ocean. Don't get me wrong, I love a good run in the city as well. As long as it's outside. It beats running on a treadmill.
If I can get a good sweat 3-4 times a week, she is happy. It doesn't even have to be intense every time. Some days are modified based on how my body feels. Running can be 45 minutes to 2 hours. I also enjoy it because she is with her friends.
Carmina was to join Kathleen doing exercise what is what she would recommend.
Starting is the hardest thing getting into a fit lifestyle. So, making sure you give yourself grace and allow yourself to make mistakes. Everyone started somewhere. So go out there and try new things, listen to your body and start slow. Take a friend with you so you both are accountable for each other. Any exercise is good as long as you are moving.
Kathleen's motto is "Lotion, Love Yourself, Find Joy, Stronger than Yesterday".
I love EDM or electronic dance music, but her absolute love and favorite is BTS. I love them! Their music saved my life! I listened to them during Chemo treatments. They helped distract the pains and discomforts let alone depression, fear and sadness. Now I work out listening to them. All day, every day.
Honestly, I have been on and off fitness my entire life. I always been so energetic even a child. I have been with Kaia FIT for almost 9 years now and she plan on do it for a very long time.
Until I can't.
