When the longing for authentic Pinoy dishes strikes in the U.S., Isla Grand stands ready to transport your taste buds back to the Philippines.

Carmina is traveling to the United States to spend time with her family. My dad planned a family gathering for Mother's Day at their favorite Pinoy restaurant . Since reservations aren’t possible, we arrived an hour early to ensure we could get a table for twelve before everyone else showed up. As my dad approached Isla Grand , the branch we visited in Pleasant Hills, California , the host at the door said they could prepare a table for twelve at five o'clock. Later, the server called my dad's name and guided us to our table. The place was bustling with people enjoying meals and celebrating Mother's Day. Chicken Teriyaki Wraps from Subway Philippines

Not sure if you remember Carmina use to work at Subway Sandwiches year 1989 when her parents owned a branch in California.

We never had a wrap before where we can eat it in the Philippines. When you don't feel like eating a bread, we can make our meal into a wrap which Subway Philippines uses tortilla by selecting what type of meat, vegetables and sauces added to our meal.

Carmina decided to try their Chicken Teriyaki by adding tomatoes, cucumber and onions with no dressing. It tasted like having a shawarma. The chicken teriyaki is sweet yet having the vegetables had balance out the taste for PHP 176.90 ($3.16).

I was missing their cookies and decided to have two pieces chocolate chips and one oatmeal raisin for PHP 97.75 ($1.74).
